Natural white with a touch of lemon

 

With this bar we celebrate the Dutch invention of the cacao butter press by Coenraad Johannes van Houten back in 1828. Initially this press was created to make powder for drinking chocolate. A century later used for pressing cacao for its butter to make white chocolate.

The Dutch Original White bar is made of natural cacao butter from Venezuela, the same country as Van Houten chose to import in the past. The creamy and hearty Dutch cow milk accentuates the natural cacao butter and provides for an extra layer of flavour depth. As a finishing touch we added the fresh taste of Spanish lemon and real quality vanilla from Madagascar.

FRANKLIN FIGUEREDO PLANTATION

Franklin Figueredo’s plantation is located in the Miranda State of Venezuela. Together with his family he grows a Trinitario cacao variety in a agroforesrty system where he supports the bio diversity of the area.

The temperature in the region varies between 18ºC and 27ºC (64.4ºF and 80.6ºF) Two crops are grown every year and the harvest takes place in December – January and July – August. The cacao beans are traditionally fermented in wooden boxes for 5-8 days and afterwards dried in the sun.


ABOUT THE INGREDIENTS

 

Heinde & Verre means “near and far”. The locally sourced Dutch cow milk and beet sugar allows the cacao butter to be fully appreciated.

EXCEPTIONAL CRAFT

A variety of in-house developped techniques is used to craft the unique Heinde & Verre chocolate. The cacao beans of one single farmer are handselected and rosted in multile ways to bring out as many flavours as possible.

Each Heinde & Verre box contains 2 bars, one bar for now, one for later. At Heinde & Verre we take chocolate and your enjoyment very serious. Quality chocolate needs to be protected so we have developed the perfect packaging to preserve all the natural flavours. A kraft pouch protects against light, humidity, dust and dirt. A double air tight seal protects against odours. We have extracted part of the air to reduce oxidisation and moisture.
